We're a sucker for a superfood smoothie, so we've created this sweet concoction that packs a nutritious punch.
We love to find flavours that complement each other and also add in a few lil' extras to take a basic smoothie to the next level. For this superfood smoothie, we've combined banana, kiwi and blueberries with chia seeds and our Salted Date Almond Butter. But why these ingredients?
Kiwi is packed full of vitamin C and dietary fibre, but as it can be pretty tart in flavour, we've had to add a touch of sweetness to balance the taste. Blueberries bring the sweetness along with the banana, which also thickens the mix to make a slurpy smoothie that you'll struggle to suck up your (reusable!) straw.
Bananas and blueberries are considered superfoods due to their rich antioxidants and potassium content - it may be summer, but we always want to stay on top of our immune system.
We've also added a superfood sprinkle of chia seeds as they contain high amounts of dietary fibre, protein, a-linolenic acid, phenolic acid and vitamins. These little black seeds are ranked as the fifth most nutritious food (according to the BBC), so they had to go in.
And of course, our Salted Date Almond Butter for a sweet, salty and decadently creamy addition. Adding quality almond butter can help fill that hole in your tummy and keep you going for longer. Our Salted Date Almond Butter contains no refined sugar - it's sweetened using dates!

Superfood Smoothie Recipe: Banana, Kiwi, Blueberry & Chia Seeds
Ingredients:
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 kiwi (take the skin off)
- 1 cup of frozen blueberries
- 1/2 cup of yoghurt (add a splash of honey if you use plain Greek Yoghurt)
- 1 Tbsp of chia seeds
- 2 cups of nut milk (almond or coconut)
- 1 Tbsp Yumello Salted Date Almond Butter
- Optional: Cacao nibs
Method:
- Whack all of the above into a powerful blender and blend!
- Pour into a tall glass and garnish with a sprinkle of cacao nibs if you're feeling extra.
